We know that you are probably busy. You get pulled into different things every single day. Although you try to keep everything in your life streamlined and organized as much as possible, your different email inboxes are a mess. We have all been there.
Organizing your different Gmail inboxes is very salient, particularly if they are connected to particular projects you are currently working on. Many persons have email trails everywhere that form different segments of different projects that if just left lying inside a default inbox can be challenging to keep track of. Moving these email to different inboxes can make it convenient to filter out those that only work for particular projects. So you can set up different Gmail inboxes, just follow the procedure below.
Just remember that Multiple Inboxes is an enhancement available for the Gmail service of Google. This allows you to see different views of your inbox in just one screen. Note that this tool does not allow you to view different Gmail accounts or a lot of other inboxes just in one webpage. Rather, it displays multiple views of your Gmail inbox in just one web page. Hence, you can just have one pane showing starred messages, one pane that shows all of the incoming messages, one pane showing messages with a certain label, one pane showing your drafts, and so on and so forth.
(1) As soon as you have signed into your Gmail account, click the button, “Settings” near the upper right portion beside the “Settings” menu.
(2) Click the option, “Settings” from the drop down menu, which appears to go to the “Settings” web page.
(4) This will bring you to another web page. Go down to find the option, “Multiple Inboxes”. Afterwards, click the radio button, “Enable”. Then, click the button, “Save Changes”.
(5) This will redirect you automatically to your Inbox. The left side below the button, “Compose”, scroll to the link, “Create new label”. If you cannot see it immediately, just click on the option, “More” and it will show up.
(6) Afterwards, you can create a new label. The name you choose should be easy to ID, according to the types of email you would like to be in it. You also have the choice to make different labels.
(7) Proceed back to the “Settings” web page and click the link, “Multiple Inboxes” along with the options on the horizontal menu, near the upper portion of the “Settings” web page.
(8) Below the area beside the “Current searches for multiple inboxes”, plug in the new labels that you made. Utilize the format, “is:label-name” for the left portion. In addition, you can include also the Panel title if you would like and if appropriate.
(9) Click the link, “Filters” found on the upper horizontal menu. Afterward, click the link, “Create a new filter”. Plug in the email address you would want to be filtered to make the label.
(10) Click the “Create filter with this search” hyperlink found on the lower right corner of the web page.
(11) Click the checkbox beside the “Skip the Inbox (Archive It)”. In addition, check the “Apply the label” and pick the label that you made for the email address that is secondary.
(12) Click the “Create filter”.
(13) As soon as you are finished, click the “Save Changes” and you are finished!
Just a couple of tips before you start managing your multiple Gmail inboxes. First you can combine any criteria, like activating multiple inboxes, altering the default view, stacking the inbox views, setting labels and filters, etc. and refine Gmail searches by just separating the terms with spaces. To run the or searches (these would include email messages that has any of the criteria you are looking for, put the word “OR” (with capitalized letters) between every search terms. Another tip: to make sure that emails do not show in different places, you can make sure that the filters of Gmail can auto archive messages that will show up on secondary panes. In this manner, they do not show up on the main inbox. They simply go directly to the smaller panes.
