Publisher Bandai Namco and developer Slightly Mad Studios have launched their latest title Fast and Furious Crossroads. The title is set in the film universe and was developed in collaboration with Universal Games and Digital Platforms. The game is now available on PC and consoles.
Fast and Furious Crossroads tells the story of three “small-time” garage owners. Their work soon puts them in trouble again in a quest for vengeance. The game will introduce new characters, along with some familiar characters from the franchise.
The game expands on the existing universe with familiar cast members making an appearance. The cast includes Vin Diesel as Dom Toretto, Michelle Rodriguez as Letty Ortiz, and Tyrese Gibson as Roman Pearce reprising their roles. Also appearing in the game are Sonequa Martin-Green of Star Trek: Discovery, Asia Kate Dillon of Billions, and Peter Stormare of Fargo.
Similar to the expanding movie universe, the game takes place in a variety of locations. Players will drive through and complete various heists in locations such as Athens, Barcelona, Morocco, and New Orleans.
Fast and Furious Crossroads will feature cars from the movie franchise. They were all curated by the official Fast and Furious car coordinator Dennis McCarthy. Cars can also be customized with new and familiar gadgets from the films. As players continue through the game, they can unlock more cars, paint, wraps, and more to personalize each vehicle.
Players can play solo or online with friends. The game offers a three-faction team-based “cops vs. villains vs. heroes” style gameplay.
Currently, there’s a special promotion for those who purchase the game until September 7. Players will receive the Launch Pack, which includes the Mitsubishi Eclipse, along with four customization items and three unique wraps. The Launch Pack is a separate download on all platforms.
The Steam store page also lists a “Season Pass” as a separate download, which means that more DLC is on the way. Since the current free DLC is for a car and accessories, the future DLC may also be for additional vehicles. The DLC is not essential to playing the game but offers some additional power-ups and some nostalgic memories for fans of the franchise.
